Advertising Sales and Marketing Assistant (Iowa Newspaper Association)

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include assisting the sales department with the many segments of newspaper and digital media advertising. Provide support to account executives; coordinating and placing orders, assisting with deadlines, creating and designing ad copy. Other responsibilities include prospecting for new business and creating sales proposals and presentations.

The ideal candidate would be at ease with managing multiple projects at once within tight deadlines and developing ad copy for new and existing customers.

Duties will include:

Exercises initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks.

Works under the general supervision and direction of the Sales Director and Inside Sales Manager.

Performs all duties within the objectives, standards and policies of the Association.

Des Moines Radio Group sales internship

The Saga Communications Des Moines Special Internship – SALES is awarded to a graduating high school senior or current college student with an interest in, and aptitude for, Radio Broadcasting and Sales. Applicants must: 1) Demonstrate their ambition to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. 2) Be in possession of a good academic record. (Enclose unofficial transcript.) 3) Attach an essay of 300-350 words answering the question: Why I am passionate about being a radio broadcaster… 4) Be willing to commit to a 10-week, first-hand, summer internship program at the Des Moines Radio Group in Des Moines, Iowa from May 23-July 29, 2016.

The program requires 26 hours a week from the student. The student will be working with managers and leaders in: programming, sales, promotions and marketing, music, and engineering.

SCDM Scholarship is $2,500 (gross) to be paid as taxable wages bi-weekly during internship. Student is responsible for any housing costs during internship.

Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS) meets the critical needs of the community by providing a continuum of quality programs designed to keep children safe and families together. As the largest youth shelter and the only crisis nursery of its kind in the state of Iowa, YESS serves nearly 2,000 children each year – newborn to age 17 – by providing emergency shelter, crisis intervention, and counseling services in an effort to heal families and change lives. YESS’ range of services meet the physical, mental, and social health needs of children and teens, creating an environment where families can thrive.

Description

YESS is looking for an energetic and dedicated Intern with a spirit for improving his/her community. The Marketing & Development Intern’s role is to uphold the agency mission and to support the Development team by assisting with annual giving/capital campaign initiatives; special event planning; donor relations; and special project completion. Collaborating and working closely with agency staff, the Marketing & Development Intern will engage in comprehensive awareness efforts and will need to be flexible while embracing challenges associated with work in the nonprofit sector.

Dates

  • 2016 Spring Semester (February thru May)
  • Approximately 10 – 15 hours per week (Evenings & weekends included)
  • Weekly schedule is flexible and can be adjusted

Responsibilities

  • Support the Development Team in the successful planning and implementation of annual giving appeals and special fundraising initiatives, including the YESS Duck Derby.
  • Assist with community engagement and volunteer coordination efforts in various capacities
  • Assist with communication and promotional strategies, including agency publications, promotional materials, agency website maintenance and social media initiatives
  • Support ongoing agency stewardship initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning of multiple special event activities as assigned.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Mid-America Tile is looking for a qualified intern to join our marketing/sales team. Our marketing/sales department produces and provides quality marketing collateral, special events, product samples, and promotions for our customers. Internships are available on a rolling basis, including summer opportunities.

Requirements

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, extensive knowledge of website development, content management systems, and social media, including Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube. Microsoft Office/Acrobat experience is also required, but Photoshop, Vimeo, Houzz, video editing, and robust database skills are a much-appreciated bonus. You will be based in our office in Elk Grove Village, but some travel will be required. Ideally, you’ll have reliable transportation. However, we’re located close to the bus – and there’s always Uber. Hours can be flexible, but we’re hoping you’ll join us full-time M-F. We’re willing to make schedule adjustments for the right candidate.
