Director of Public Relations

In this position, you would lead the Meyocks public relations discipline. You would offer counsel to Meyocks clients in the areas of media relations, media training, issues/crisis management, community relations, social media and employee communications. You would develop and implement public relations plans, as well as public relations programs that integrate with overall marketing communications plans. You would author content and edit content developed by other team members — and lead and mentor public relations staff at the agency.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of public relations experience required (agency experience strongly preferred)
  • Significant experience in the agriculture category required — food, health or retail category experience a plus
  • Experience leading a team of professionals
  • Desire to learn clients’ businesses and contribute ideas that shape marketplace meaning for our clients
  • Demonstrated understanding of the changing nature of the public relations discipline
  • Ability to offer counsel/strategy… and to implement as well

Advertising Copywriter

In this position, you would develop engaging concepts and copy for clients’ brand communications needs across a variety of mediums. You would bring your creative passion to a wide range of projects — from broadcast to digital ads to shelf talkers. You would be a prolific generator of ideas and a collaborative champion of the ideas of others. You would be mindful of both the client’s brand and the agency’s brand promise to deliver work that connects more meaningfully to customers and prospects.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of copywriting experience (advertising agency experience preferred)
  • Ability to shift seamlessly from strong conceptual work to straightforward copy style
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate through a variety of writing styles and emotions
  • Retail category and broadcast production experience a plus
  • Self-motivation, strong work ethic, resilience, positive attitude and ability to work quickly are musts

Account Manager

In this role, you would manage the details of making great work happen – from client input through agency execution. You would develop project briefs, create and manage schedules, monitor budgets and generally ensure our work is flawless and consistent with overall strategy. In addition, you would work with a team of talented functional specialists to develop marketing communications plans.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • College degree in advertising, public relations, marketing or related field
  • Three-plus years of experience with integrated marketing communications — advertising agency experience strongly preferred
  • Strong deadline/project management focus and a relentless obsession to “get it right”
  • Desire to learn a client’s businesses and contribute ideas that shape marketplace meaning for our clients
  • Experience with retail industries a plus
  • Ability to build relationships and credibility with clients and fellow team members

PR/marketing internship with On With Life (Des Moines)

On With Life, a non-profit brain injury rehabilitation organization, is looking for a PR/Marketing intern this summer/fall. This individual will assist with special events planning and execution, including the fall conference and fundraising events; draft content for the website and social media; update the On With Life external website with an emphasis on fresh content and photo galleries; and take and update photographs of building, persons served and staff.

This internship is available to individuals currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, English or other related field. This internship will be unpaid, but will work to provide college credit, if needed. The internship will be 12-20 hours per week, to be completed between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Part-time web content coordinator

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is seeking a part-time, temporary website content coordinator who will be responsible for inputting, publishing and maintaining website content.

  • Resize and optimize photographs and digital images for web

  • Input/code pre-written content on website

  • Combine content and images into PDF document using Adobe InDesign

  • Collaborate and work closely with the technical team to maintain site standards with regard to new development

  • Work closely with the project team to manage timelines and meet deadlines

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop

Plus:

  • Previous experience using Drupal content management system

  • Knowledge of ADA accessibility guidelines and standards for websites and PDF documents

The pay is $17.50 per hour and this is a temporary position with flexibility in scheduling for the project that will last through August/September.  Experience and course work may offset the lack of degree, so qualified students are encouraged to apply. Summer communication internships at Iowa Secretary of State’s office

The Iowa Secretary of State’s Office in Des Moines is offering two paid internships that can be done for credit instead if desired.

Summer 2017 Social Media/Multimedia Projects Internship

 This internship at the Iowa Secretary of State’s office would consist of managing the social media and online presence, content production and marketing for multiple projects.

 The internship is for the Summer Semester of 2017, however it may start earlier and there is possibility of renewal if desired.

  • Monitoring and Management of multiple social media pages
  • Regular content production including but not limited to images, copy and video
  • Planning out long term strategy and content calendars for social media
  • Keeping track of and responding to constituent interactions

Experience in videography and graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Apple Final Cut Pro, or Adobe Premiere preferred.

Background in Marketing, Political Science, Communications, Graphic Design, Videography or Journalism is a plus.

Summer 2017 Business Services Communications Internship

With the Secretary of State’s Office being the small business portal of Iowa, we must celebrate the importance of entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Business Services Intern is responsible for contacting small businesses to create entrepreneurship related content for the Iowa Secretary of State’s social media pages. Additional responsibilities include assisting office manager with business services work and organizational tasks.

  • Creating social media content promoting entrepreneurship and Iowa small business
  • Interviewing small businesses
  • Organization of our social media content calendars
  • Creating content and managing the Secretary of State’s LinkedIn page
  • Entering new business services accounts
  • Manage Invoices and refunds
