PR/marketing intern, On With Life (D.M.)

On With Life, a non-profit brain injury rehabilitation organization, is looking for a PR/Marketing intern for spring 2018.

This individual will assist with special events planning including the fall conference and fundraising events; draft content for the website and social media; update the On With Life external website with an emphasis on fresh content and photo galleries; and take and update photographs of building, persons served and staff.

This internship is available to individuals currently pursuing in a bachelor’s degree with a major in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, English or other related field.

This internship will be unpaid but will work to provide college credit, if needed. The internship will be 12-20 hours per week, to be completed between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

IRTS SUMMER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Community regional news editor (Hampton, Iowa)

Mid-America Publishing Corporation seeks a full-time Community Regional News Editor for its Hampton, Iowa office. This position would be a great opportunity for an experienced December graduate.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter who is well-versed in writing, photography, and social media. They must also be able to write hard news, delve into features, and investigate issues of all types in and around Franklin and Cerro Gordo Counties. Spanish speaking and writing skills are a huge bonus for this position – but are not required. Top-notch verbal and written communication skills are imperative. NBC Universal scholarships for Latino students

The NBCUniversal/LNESC Scholarship Program is intended to assist and encourage outstanding Latino students with an interest in the media and entertainment industry pursue a bachelor’s degree at a U. S. post-secondary institution. The NBCUniversal/LNESC Scholarship Program is sponsored by NBCUniversal and administered by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC).

The NBCUniversal/LNESC Scholarship Program will award 10 $5,000 national scholarships to qualified sophomores and juniors. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university; at least 18 years of age or older; have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale; be a U. S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident; and have an interest in the media and entertainment industry; all majors are welcome.

Applicants must submit the following by the deadline of Nov. 6, 2017:

  • Completed online application, including submission of the following: 
    • College transcript with proof of cumulative grade point average
    • Three letters of recommendation, including a complete telephone number and email address for each reference

Studio Iowa seeks video editor/graphic artist

Studio Iowa — a local agency that makes television commercials, direct-to-web video, 3D animations, still photos and much more — is always looking for young talent. The company’s immediate need is for an Editor/Graphic Artist. Having skills with the Adobe Suite is required, though Studio Iowa also works with Apple Final Cut Pro. Understanding how to tell a compelling visual story is also important.
