Studio Iowa seeks video editor/graphic artist

Studio Iowa — a local agency that makes television commercials, direct-to-web video, 3D animations, still photos and much more — is always looking for young talent. The company’s immediate need is for an Editor/Graphic Artist. Having skills with the Adobe Suite is required, though Studio Iowa also works with Apple Final Cut Pro. Understanding how to tell a compelling visual story is also important.

Applicants sought for On Painted Street Instagram account

Students who have a great story to tell this summer, especially if they have a cool internship to show off, are encouraged to apply. The Montrose Daily Press and its online companion — http://www.montrosepress.com — has two openings on its news staff.

NEWS EDITOR

The News Editor is the number two position in the newsroom. Duties include working with the editorial staff covering local news and sports, pagination, writing editorials and page design. Experience in a newsroom management position is preferred, but we will consider other applicants who are looking to advance in their career.

REPORTER

We have an opening for Sports Reporter. The successful applicant will cover the primary news beat of Montrose, Olathe, Delta and the surrounding area. Photography and pagination skills regarded as a plus. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.

Spring and summer communication internships, ACLU of Iowa

Interns will have the opportunity to work with the communications director on a range of significant issues and projects.  Ideally our internships would range from 8-13 weeks. This position is part-time with highly flexible weekly hours negotiable. Interns are encouraged to work with their schools for course credits, independent study credits, and/or funding for the internship, as it is unpaid. Interns will be provided with free parking.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working on a variety of communications and outreach efforts.  They will potentially learn to assist on all aspects of communications, marketing, public and media relations, outreach, and public education, as well as other projects as assigned.

We do our best to tailor our communications internships to encompass the particular interest of each intern: marketing, design, public relations, social justice, law and government, photography, video, political science, and more.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

This internship welcomes applications from a variety of majors and areas of study. It is open to all current students who have completed at least one year of college and possess the following:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong computer skills, strong social media abilities, and a skill for  web-based research
  • The ability to work with a wide range of people
  • The initiative to see projects through to completion
  • An interest in advocating for civil liberties

PR/marketing intern, On With Life

On With Life, a non-profit brain injury rehabilitation organization, is looking for a PR/Marketing intern this spring. This individual will assist with special events planning including the fall conference and fundraising events; draft content for the website and social media; update the On With Life external website with an emphasis on fresh content and photo galleries; and take and update photographs of building, persons served and staff. This internship is available to individuals currently pursuing in a bachelor’s degree with a major in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, English or other related field. This internship will be unpaid but will work to provide college credit, if needed. The internship will be 12-20 hours per week, to be completed between the hours of 8:00-4:30, Monday-Friday. Summer internships, Dubuque Telegraph Herald

The Telegraph Herald, a daily newspaper with a circulation of 29,000 in Dubuque, Iowa, seeks talented interns to join our news team. Be a part of a hard-working, aggressive newsroom aiming to produce the best newspaper in the state, both in print and online.

Our interns get a real taste of the business. You won’t be fetching coffee or making copies – you will have a chance to play an active role in our news organization. And at the end of the summer, you will have an abundance of experience and a full collection of work to show future employers.

Internships typically start in May and run 10 to 12 weeks (but we make sure it’s always long enough for you to meet your college’s requirements, if there are any). The positions are 40 hours per week.

Our three intern openings for summer 2017 are:

Reporter Intern: Primary responsibilities include writing news and feature stories, monitoring ongoing news and issues, using social media to keep the community informed and taking video from events. Qualified candidates must have excellent basic writing skills and the ability to find and gather information both words and images for the newspaper print edition and website. A valid driver’s license is required.

Photo Intern: Primary responsibilities include taking photographs and videos, assigned and through initiative. Ability to download and edit still photos and videos as well as provide accurate identifications and caption information. Qualified candidates must have experience in photography, particularly photojournalism on the college level. Familiarity with software for photo editing and video editing. A valid driver’s license is required.

Copy Editor Intern: Primary responsibilities include selecting, editing and designing page content for print product and online content. Meet page flow deadlines and coordinate edition content with editors. Qualified candidates must have familiarity with current events and history. Also, the ability to grasp and adapt to new technology. Evening and weekend hours applicable as well as other hours.
