Responsibilities: Under supervision of the Webmaster, and dependent upon demonstrated skill in various areas, the intern will:

Create layouts for best user experience:

  • New web pages (and editing of existing pages).
  • Restructure content on web pages.
  • Troubleshooting errors/bugs.
  • User experience.
  • Other non-recurring communications.
  • Posting web pages and news stories.
  • Monitoring website for functionality.
  • Organize content of district website.
  • Formatting and creating documents and data in google drive.
  • Develop public messages needed for sustained positive public relations. This may include
  • news releases, web page content, social media, special events, etc.
  • Update informational materials on the district, which may include social media, web pages, photos, and other items.
  • Research of new web tools and development of social media to integrate with the district website
  • Other duties as assigned (may include filing, researching, and clerical tasks)

Requirements: Strong technical skills. Preferably a student with a major or minor in computer science, marketing, or some other form of web development. Strong grammar and proofreading skills. Strong research skills.

Preferred Skills: Experience with Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with website navigation/design or user experience. Experience with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, HootSuite, and other programs. Photography or videography experience.

Journal Times Reporter (Racine, Wisconsin)

We’re looking for a newspaper reporter/photographer who writes clearly, can develop relationships with sources, and has an ability to take initiative. We also like concise writing. The ideal candidate must have the ability to handle both news and sports assignments. A general knowledge of sports is a requirement. Responsibilities will include writing, taking photos for the paper, posting content online and on social media.

The Journal Times is a daily newspaper with circulation of 19,000 daily and 22,000 Sunday, based in Racine, Wisconsin. We’ve won several first-place statewide awards in recent years and we’ve got a strong digital culture. We focus on local content of what’s of interest to our readership.

We cover an urban, suburban and rural area with its downtown along Lake Michigan. We’re located only 30 minutes south of Milwaukee and 45 minutes north of Chicago. Racine is also a quickly changing city, in part thanks to the multi-million dollar Foxconn factory set to begin construction in the coming months. Racine County is a community that has its own identity and relies on The Journal Times for news and information. The Journal Times is a part of Lee Enterprises.

Both experienced journalist and new journalists are welcome to apply. Writing samples and photos from college papers are welcome. We will offer training to the right person, but be ready to get reporting on your first day. The position requires some night and weekend hours. New journalists should include GPA information.

Graphic design internship at Delta Dental (Johnston, IA)

Delta Dental of Iowa is looking for an exceptional candidate to fill Marketing Communication Internship role focused on graphic design. The program participant will support the Marketing Communications department in coordinating all aspects of marketing project activities; including assisting in the execution of projects and ensuring deadlines are met. Multiple project opportunities are available and will be assigned depending on candidate background and interest. Potential opportunities include communications, digital and email marketing, event management, social media, digital analytic analysis, graphic design, and copywriting.
