Communications Intern, The Rotary Club of Des Moines

The Rotary Club of Des Moines is a non-profit civic organization that has been in existence for 107 years with the motto of ‘service above self.’  This group is comprised of 300 dues-paying members of the greater Des Moines business community who complete the work of the club through 15 working committees.  The Rotary Club of Des Moines meets for a keynote speaker over lunch each Thursday at the Wakonda Club.

This position reports to and assists the full time Executive Director who provides day-to-day management of The Rotary Club of Des Moines and Rotary Club of Des Moines Foundation.

Responsibilities of the intern include several aspects of communication including website, social media, press releases, weekly emailed newsletter, creation of flyers or other mailings and print materials used by the committees and the club.

Job requirements:

Technical skills:  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); ability to use web-based application specific to our Rotary Club (ClubRunner) and Word Press.  Applicants should have strong writing skills as well as an understanding of social media strategy.

Prefer intern to be available on Thursdays for our meetings from noon – 1 pm (excluding holidays).  Other day/hours are flexible.  Up to 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:  $10 per hour and lunch included on Thursday.
