The Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming’s statewide newspaper and top media organization, is seeking a talented reporter with high ambitions and storytelling skills to join our news team.
Local government will be your primary focus, but there will be opportunities for general assignment and feature work around the state.
Enterprise and online reporting are a must here, so evidence of investigative and writing skills will put you ahead of the field, as will multimedia abilities. We’re looking for candidates who are as comfortable asking tough questions of city leaders as they are writing about a high school student with autism opening a doughnut shop.
The opportunity for impactful, career-building journalism is here. We emphasize enterprise stories and projects. Our best local government pieces have placed in regional and national newspaper competitions, and the reporters have gone on to large, metro papers.
The successful candidate will also have excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to deliver on deadline and manage multiple priorities. You’ll need a bachelor’s degree, excellent verbal skills and a willingness to improve.
Our newsroom is hardworking but fun, and we take pride in being our state’s largest and most important media voice. The Star-Tribune has been named Wyoming’s best daily newspaper for the past two years, and our reporters regularly take home dozens of awards at state and regional competitions.
Outside the newsroom, Wyoming offers endless outdoor opportunities. We’re at the base of a beautiful mountain range where you can hike in the summer and ski in the winter. World-class camping and fishing spots are just a short drive out of town. Casper boasts a small-town feel with big city offerings of restaurants, shopping and the arts. And if you’re missing the big city, Denver is an easy drive.
The Casper Star-Tribune is a Lee Enterprises news organization with a daily circulation of about 17,000. We offer an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid holidays and vacation. We are an equal opportunity employer.
