GRX Holdings, LLC owns 16 Medicap Pharmacy locations in the central Iowa area, and is the parent company to GRX Marketing. Locally we position our locations as being a neighborhood pharmacy, offering personal service with no long waits at competitive prices. Our pharmacies separate themselves from the competition by offering services you might not find at other pharmacies, including free delivery, monthly health classes, compliance packaging and more.
GRX Marketing was created in 2010 and offers marketing services to independent pharmacy owners nationwide. These services include consultation, website design, social media management, and traditional media creation.
Marketing Internship position will be approximately 30-40 hours a week for 10 weeks, based on student’s schedule. Intern will report to Vice President of Marketing, and work at GRX Office in West Des Moines, unless otherwise specified. Occasional trips to various pharmacy locations in the central Iowa area may be required. The typical hours of the internship are 8:30-5:00pm with a break for lunch Monday through Friday.
Purpose of internship is to implement knowledge of marketing principles as it applies to marketing community pharmacy locations on a local and national level. Develop an understanding of how to market for a small business owner, and to tailor marketing messages based on demographics and store locations.
–Understanding of how to market GRX Medicap Pharmacy stores and clients’ locations. Gain knowledge of how pharmacy and healthcare industry is evolving and this effects them and the marketing messages.
–Develop understanding of an independent pharmacy’s services and how they differ than competition. Understand strengths and weaknesses of each, and how this effects marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
–Assist Vice President of Marketing with marketing requests including, but not limited to:
o Designing in-store promotional materials, newspaper, magazine and newsletter ads, and direct mail
o Writing internal and customer e-newsletter
o Writing press releases
o Creating and implementing store survey and mailings
o Vendor programs
o Store events, health fairs and trade shows
o Social media promotions
o Creating monthly reader board messages for 10 locations
o Website creation or management
o Assist with GRX Marketing client requests
o Develop and execute an in-store promotion that can be implemented locally and nationally.
–Applicant must be at least a junior pursuing a degree in Advertising or Public Relations.
–Must have a major GPA of 3.0
–Must be proficient with Adobe Software: Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
–Must have knowledge of general marketing principles
–Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
–Able to effectively multi-task and switch gears quickly to a new project as need arises.
–Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes
–Exhibits positive attitude and a problem solving mentality
–Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
–Be able to think critically and independently in developing promotions and materials.
