The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation offers a limited number of internships to students interested in hands-on experience at a leading national nonprofit. The CF Foundation is currently interviewing candidates for an internship opportunity at its Iowa Chapter, in the following fields:
– Event Planning
– Social Media and Marketing
– Administrative support
The CF Foundation has recently been featured in USA Today, Forbes Magazine, US News & World Report for its innovative and entrepreneurial methods and success. The Wall St. Journal’s Smart Money has recognized the CF Foundation as a leader among U.S. health/research charities for keeping administrative costs to a minimum while maximizing funds for medical programs.
Students will work under the guidance of CF Foundation staff, acquiring skills and experience as they assist in the planning and implementation of event-based fundraising events (such as the national Great Strides Walk for CF). The experience will include interaction with volunteers and vendors in addition to CFF staff. This is a non-paid internship, which may qualify for academic credit at your institution.
Interns will receive hands-on experience in the areas of special events planning, fundraising, development and control of social media, or marketing opportunities with local businesses. Working directly with Foundation staff, students will help in planning every stage of major fundraising events from contacting businesses and collecting donations to set up and assisting at the event to post event wrap-up. Students will be a part of the event committee and receive recognition as such.
This is a great opportunity to build valuable career building experience and network with professionals across the state of Iowa. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a leader in the non-profit sector and developer of a new form of philanthropy, Venture Philanthropy, will assist in helping provide students with needed skills.
Prefer Junior or Senior level students. Event management, communications, business, health, and liberal arts majors are highly encouraged; all other majors will be considered. Interested students should be outgoing and friendly as well as comfortable communicating over the phone or via email.
Hours Per Week:
Minimum 8 hours per week– more as desired by student – hours are flexible to coincide with class and/or work schedule.
Internships are unpaid but students will be offered class credit for work as it applies to their major as well as recognition for their work at events and other opportunities as applicable.
Estimated Start Date:
Students are encouraged to start as soon as they are available. Internships will start at the beginning of each semester, respectively.
Summer opportunities exist as well to plan events and applications are currently being accepted.
