Social Media Intern – Patch.com (New York)

Patch is a network of hyperlocal news sites extending to over 900 communities across America. We provide excellent, high-velocity local journalism and serve as a digital town square, providing citizens and businesses the platform to connect with their communities.

Patch editors are skilled writers, well versed in using video, photography, and SEO best practices to create rich articles that help our readers understand what’s happening close to home.

Patch also has a community of over 5,000 active bloggers who passionately write about local issues.

Job Requirements or Qualifications:

Patch is looking for college student or recent graduate to become a key junior member of our team.

Patch prides itself on having an actively managed internship program where our trainees make important contributions to our site by learning a range of editorial skills necessary to succeed in online media. We look for rising stars who want hands-on experience creating content, following social media trends, pitching ideas and supporting the needs of the team (scheduling posts, pulling reports, et cetera). They must be innovative thinkers who demonstrate efficient problem solving and organized work habits. Because of the variety of tasks, this position will provide the right candidate the opportunity to gain an inside look at how an online media site operates.

We are interested in candidates that possess the following:

  • proven writing & editing ability
  • digital content & social media savvy
  • strong Excel/Google Doc skills
  • quantitative abilities, as this role will require internal analytics reporting
  • organizational skills & the ability to work on deadline
  • professionalism informed by warmth & charm
