Campus & Community Collaborations Assistant, Drake

The Drake University Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning is looking for a student to work as the Campus & Community Collaborations Assistant. This position involves event planning skills, communication with businesses and community partners, and marketing. We are looking for an organized student who pays great attention to detail, is capable of working independently, and managing their time effectively. Experience with public relations and strong writing skills are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate communications and logistics for Drake-sponsored community events, such as the Iowa State Fair, Jazz in July, DSMove, Jolly Holiday Lights, Holiday Food Basket, Downtown Street Painting, etc.
  • Develop a coordinated strategy for the inclusion of Drake student groups in to Drake sponsored community events
  • Collaborate with the Community Advisory Board and Service-Learning Ambassadors to recruit volunteers for events
  • Represent Drake University at community events; setting-up and staffing booths/tables
  • Securing sponsorships and making connections with businesses and community partners
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system for requests and distribution of Drake Giveaway items; Process and fulfill donation

Requirements:

  • Car or access to a car for off-campus events
  • Design/marketing experience
  • Will work a total of 6-8 hours per week, minimum of two hours held in the office (8 AM-5 PM)
  • Availability on nights and weekends (when events are scheduled)
  • Resume and writing sample, please also submit a portfolio if one is available
  • Attend weekly SLA meetings
  • SLA will need to be available for SLA Orientation August 27-29, 2015 (Thursday-Saturday)
  • Regularly monitor e-mail and communication as deadlines are short and come in multiples
