Communications intern at EMBARC (Des Moines)

The Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center (EMBARC) seeks a communications intern.

Responsibilities:  Coordinate all multi-media communication efforts not limited to Facebook, website, list serve and newsletters. The Communication Intern must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and have working knowledge of WordPress, InDesign, and OneDrive.  Graphic Design skills a plus.

Background: Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center is a grassroots organization founded by refugees from Burma in 2011 with the mission to help refugees expand their world of possibilities through advocacy, education, and community development. EMBARC founders believe that sustainable change can only come from within a community empowered to help themselves. EMBARC serves refugee families in need by removing barriers and creating leaders in the community.

Qualifications: Students applying for this internship should currently be pursuing a degree in journalism and mass communication, marketing, graphic design or another related major(s). Applicants should be passionate about non-profit work and should be able to work effectively in multitask and meet deadlines. All applicants must submit a writing sample relevant to this position.
