Two Internships at Special Olympics Iowa for fall

Special Olympics Iowa has two internships available for fall 2014. One position will report to the Director of Communications & the other to the Director of Development
Hours are negotiable. We will work with students to determine work schedule.
Primary duties:
● Assist with all aspects of social media including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
● Write and edit stories for online newsletter.
● Assist with coordinating information and news for the SOIA Web site.
● Assist with updating SOIA Web pages.
● Research, write and edit news releases for distribution.
● Work closely with the Director of Communications on media relations.
● Assist at sports competitions or fundraising events based on needs.
● Assist with creating brochures and marketing collateral.
● Assist with project-related research.
● May complete updates to the SOIA kiosk at the Iowa Hall of Pride.
● Assist with photography at major events.
● One position will have more emphasis on fundraising details and promotions.
● Other duties and projects as assigned.
The two positions are both for the 2014 fall semester. The ideal candidate will be a senior student in the field of communications, journalism or public relations. The student must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detail-oriented and have good computer skills. Strong social media skills and the ability to produce YouTube videos a plus. These non-paid internships offers outstanding opportunities to build a portfolio and resume in addition to solid career experience. Special Olympics Iowa will help the intern develop a schedule that works with their classes and/or employment.
