Writer/Intern for Drake Bulldog Club

The Bulldog Club Board recently started an electronic newsletter that is sent out to our 800+ members.  The purpose of the newsletter is to better inform them about how their support of the Bulldog Club is benefiting the student-athletes at Drake.  The newsletter is distributed bi-weekly, with each edition featuring one student-athlete, focusing on their accomplishments in the classroom or community as well as his/her sport.  Additionally, we also include one other story in each newsletter edition which might feature how financial contributions to the Bulldog Club are directly benefiting the student-athletes.  Other features might include stories about former student-athletes, what they are doing now and how their Drake experience helped with their current success.  We also periodically feature current Bulldog Club members and why they choose to support Drake athletics.

The student internship opportunity would be for a Writer position(s) for the newsletter which would entail interviewing current and former student-athletes, Athletics staff and Bulldog Club members and writing a short story for each newsletter (one story every other week).  Skills required for the internship would be good writing skills, ability to effectively communicate in a story-telling style that quickly engages the audience and the ability to conduct interviews.  Ideally the intern(s) would be willing to serve in this position for the entire 2014-15 academic year.  The student interns would work under the direction of the Bulldog Club Communications Committee, with the Committee identifying story topics and doing final proofing and approval of the story.

This unpaid internship could be a win-win-win for the student(s), the University and the Bulldog Club. For more information and to apply contact:
