Student Editor for Science Journal

The Journal of Young Investigators is currently looking for a highly motivated undergraduate to serve as our Senior News and Features Editor (SNFE).  

The Journal of Young Investigators (JYI) is an independent, non-profit, peer-reviewed, online science journal that is managed entirely by and for undergraduate students from across the world. Since 1997, we’ve worked passionately to publish innovative undergraduate research and science news articles.

The SNFE leads our News and Features Department, which is comprised of 10-20 undergraduate science journalists and editors. The SNFE trains and coordinates the entire News and Features editorial team, overseeing their work and making all final publication decisions. In addition, the SNFE creates and maintains JYI’s relationships with professional Science Writing Mentors and science communication professionals who volunteer as reviewers.
 
The SNFE is also a JYI Executive Board member, serving not only to maintain JYI’s reputation but also to further our capacity to serve all of the undergraduate science community through our unique vision.
 
Key Qualifications for Ideal Candidates
·  Experience in journalism (science journalism is preferred but not required)
·  Creativity, curiosity, passion, and dedication
·  Strong ability to delegate tasks and excellent communication skills are essential.
·  Work an average of 10 hours/week, and attend monthly online board meetings.
