Summer Internship at Hoover Presidential Library

The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association in West Branch, Iowa, is seeking a summer intern to assist with story development and writing, media relations, event planning and other duties as assigned. The program will run from May 19 through Aug. 18, working weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a flexible schedule with some weekend work required. This is a paid internship.

Expected duties:

  • Research and write a minimum of three feature-length stories for American Road membership publication
  • Assist with planning and promotion of Hoover’s Hometown Days annual event, including assistance with media buying, press relations, event space allocation and event management
  • Assist with the planning and promotion of Hoover’s 50th anniversary of internment, including support of national media, event organization and written promotional material
  • Assist with the planning and promotion of the Association’s first appearance at the Iowa State Fair, including public relations work at the Fair and with special projects we will debut at the Fair
  • Basic photography skills for web and newsprint, possible video shoots
  • Must be able to meet business/professional dress code; no visible tattoos or piercings (excluding common ear piercing)
