Be part of the team that coordinates all marketing, social media, advertising and public relations efforts for the Iowa State Fair, Iowa’s largest event. The Fair is currently seeking interns who are looking for hands-on experience in all areas of implementing a strategic marketing campaign. Two positions available: both emphasize writing and editing skills and one has an additional design/layout component.
Both positions include drafting news releases, statewide dissemination of advertising materials, preparing content for website, coordinating social media initiatives, managing customer relations, coordinating and staffing consumer displays and outreach events, graphic design, editing, proofreading, compiling daily schedules, and various clerical duties. Writing skills strongly emphasized.
Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, excellent grammar and punctuation skills and ability to work under deadline pressures. Candidates should be energetic, detail-oriented and dedicated.
Those seeking invaluable experience in an exhilarating learning environment are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will be pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or a related field and have completed their sophomore year of college.
These are full-time, paid positions beginning mid-May working through August 17, 2014. Consideration given to applicants that would be available to start part-time in March or April. Standard office hours are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some nights/weekends in addition to extended hours during the Fair (August 7-17).
