Through the generosity of the Slay Fund for Social Justice, Drake University has been awarded the opportunity to host the Summer of Service-Learning and Social Justice Internship program again this summer. Community Partners with Drake will have the opportunity to apply for an SSSJP Intern. Students will work 30 hours a week with their non profit partner and engage in 5-10 hours a week of reflections and readings from May 20 – June 30. Through Slay Fund, the student will receiving housing, group meal fund, and a $1,100.00 stipend. Community Partner Supervisors and Interns will engaged in a orientation are asked to attend a portion of SSSJP orientation Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 , celebration breakfast on Friday, June 28.
Service-Learning Ambassador (SLA) Program: Application Paragraph Due Friday, April 5. Interviews will take place the week of April 8th. Applications will be notified of selection by Monday, April 8.
Five to seven students will serve as SLA for various community partner agencies. Students will be working with agencies to connect Drake students with service-learning and community service opportunities at their organization. Students will work 6-9 hours a week. Half of the hours will be spent on campus working with as a peer advocate for your program. The other half of their time will be spent at your agency working on a specific serve or service-learning project to connect students with on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or event based opportunity. Spanish language skills a plus for some agencies.
