Public Relations and Marketing Internship

currently looking for a volunteer intern to get involved with Greater Des Moines’
premier leadership organization. As an intern with this respected community leadership
organization, you will gain experience and skills that will help you with your career goals.
Position Summary
This internship will provide hands‐on experience in event planning and marketing,
newsletter development, social media strategy, website management, program
coordination, and managing special projects on an as‐needed basis. This internship will
also provide a one‐of‐a‐kind opportunity to network with leaders and decision‐makers
in Greater Des Moines through interaction with the Board of Directors, volunteers, and
members of the Community Leadership Program.
Position Requirements and Details
 Majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or similar program
 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and have strong
written and verbal communication skills.
 This is a volunteer position though the opportunity includes invaluable networking
experience and the option to participate in Community Leadership Program classes.
 Available to work 10‐15 hours a week and able to start no later than April 1. The
ideal candidate would be available through May of 2014.
 Must have a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle for transportation to
various locations in the Greater Des Moines area.
 Ideal candidates also possess some basic graphic design abilities.
