Black Bird Magazine needs motivated, creative individuals who love writing, art and design to join our artistic team and work with magazine content and other projects, layout, editing, photography, design, promotional posters/ads/brochures, and a lot more. At Black Bird, your opportunities for success and creative potential are limited only by how far you choose to go.

Both part time and full time positions offered (depending on your availability)

Black Bird is an online magazine and currently we don’t have a physical office space, therefore we do most of our work from our personal machines or available libraries. Therefore understand that you may be doing a lot of your work remotely.

Desired Skills & Experience

Things we’re looking for:
-Proficiency with Adobe Indesign Software (& the rest of Adobe suite)

-Some experience with Magazine or newspaper layout (2 years or more preferred)
-Reliability & Dedication
-Creativity/Artistic Ability
-Editing/Writing Ability

-Acessibility to Adobe Indesign Software

-Willing to work Remotely if needed

Black Bird Magazine presents a fresh perspective on a variety of art mediums, photography, typography, poetry, short stories, articles, and more. (the content varies from issue to issue.)
It is our goal to discover previously unknown & unrecognized artists and writers and offer them an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, gain recognition and achieve their artistic dreams.

Your Email Should Do 3 Things:
1-Indicate which job you are applying for (Graphic designer, photographer, artist, editor, mag layout, writer, etc.) Then let us know your availability and which you prefer (PT or FT) List the best method and time of day to contact you.

Tell us why you are the one for the job. What can you offer Black Bird? Do you have Adobe Indesign experience or are willing to learn? List any special skills, experience, etc. you have and tell us what your goals are if you were to get the job.

2-Show off your skill! Attach a few of your best examples of what you can do. If you are sending photos, send at least 3 clear examples, & for writing/editing examples send at least 3 or 4. a resume if you have one. (If you get an interview, we may request more examples) Please provide a name and/or short description of each example.

3-Provide Short Bio-This is where you share a bit about who you are: Tell us a little of your background, List any hobbies, interests, education and current endeavors. What are your short term & long term creative/professional goals? How do your interests and passions fit with ours? Do your goals complement our mission? Compensation: We currently don’t offer monetary compensation for internships, however, paid part and full time opportunities will be available in the near future.
