Public Relations Internship for Buy Fresh Buy Local Campaign

The Greater Des Moines Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign is looking for one or two student interns to ramp up public relations.  The goal of the program is to promote the members of BFBL (farms, restaurants, retailers, and farmers markets) through a printed food guide (35,000 copies), online newsletter (2000 plus subscription), and social media (nearly 2000 fans).  We also do earned media, in person events (farmers markets/health fairs), and a year-end Harvest Party with over 200 participants (fundraiser meal with local chefs, farmers, music, and partnering with Drake Dinning by Sodexo).

We’ve got a lot of the pieces in place and have run a successful campaign in the past.  However, we have some PR problems.  We really need to work our social media and cross promotion of our members at a higher level.  We also need to rebrand Greater Des Moines BFBL as a project of Drake.

Intern(s) are needed to start as soon as possible and work through the end of the fall semester.  We could have up to 20 hours a week during the school year and 40 hours a week during the summer months.  This could be one student or the hours could be shared between two students who would work as a team.  This is a paid internship.
